folders

Hi:

I've seen this asked nearly a year ago with a kinda vague answer, and I just wanted to bring it up again... is SimpleNote going to have the ability use folders for organizing notes any time soon?

Or even some kind of tree-like view for tags?

The tags feature is a good start, but I really would like an organized view when I first log in to the app. It might be good for now if we could set a default tag to show on login. As is, I just have a massive list of notes somewhat randomly ordered.

I love SimpleNote. Thanks!

Whatever tag you were viewing last should be displayed when you next launch the app. This is the best way to view a "default" tag when you start the app.

We don't announce our future product plans, but we appreciate your feedback about how you want to organize your notes. For now, we've been focusing on a stability and performance update that should be available fairly soon.

Thanks for the answer. The "last used tag" does work as you said in the iPhone app, but not on the desktop app.

I've started using the tags more in the last couple of weeks and it conceptually satisfies the folder-like organization requirement. It still would be nice if the user could optionally set "view by tags" as the default in the desktop app when it loads (rather than a single list of all notes).

I really love this app. I started trying out other note apps to see if they have the folder organization feature, and while some do have that and other nice features, the simplicity of Simplenote is just so much more appealing. Nice job! Thanks for keeping it clean and simple.

Excellent, happy you're liking the tags feature. We'll look at remembering the current "view by tags" in our web app in a future version as well.
